UAE ADNOC Pro League 2026/27: Intel Report

Compiled 22 August 2026. Where I've derived a number myself rather than lifted it from a source, I've said so.

1. League shape

Model implications.

  1. Twenty-six games is the second-shortest season covered, after Qatar's 22. Sample sizes are small; ratings stabilise late.
  2. Two down out of fourteen (14.3%) with no playoff. Clean and simple, unlike Greece, Romania, Bulgaria or Qatar.
  3. No mid-season split, no points halving, no playoff. Of the twelve leagues covered across these reports, the UAE has the simplest structure of any of them. That is a genuine advantage: a standard double round-robin simulation works here without modification.

2. Baseline: 2025/26

Al Ain won a record-extending 15th title, unbeaten. They pulled clear of then-holders Shabab Al Ahli on the run-in. It was their first title in four seasons despite the record haul. Their dominance was reflected in the awards: five of the six voting-based prizes and seven members of the Dream Team.

Relegated: Al Bataeh and one other club I could not confirm.

Promoted: Hatta and United FC.

Recent league-level numbers

I could not retrieve 2025/26 aggregate stats. The most recent confirmed full-season figures are 2024/25:

Metric2024/25 value
Matches182
Goals582, 3.2 per match
Home wins43%
Draws22%
Away wins35%
Average player age27.16
Yellow cards719
Red cards41

Goals trend: 3.20 (2024/25), 3.43 (2023/24), 3.02 (2022/23), 3.05 (2021/22), 3.35 (2020/21). The UAE is the highest-scoring league across all twelve covered in these reports, running at roughly 3.0 to 3.4 consistently.

The 22% draw rate is the most important number in this report. For comparison, my derived figures elsewhere: Serie B 31.1%, League Two ~27.5%, Championship ~25-26%. A model that never predicts draws is capped at roughly 78% accuracy in the UAE, against 69% in Serie B. That is a nine-point difference in achievable ceiling and it is entirely a property of the league, not the model.

Historical scoreline extremes: Shabab Al Ahli 10-0 Hatta (June 2024), Al Ain 7-0 Al Dhafra, Kalba 0-6 Al Jazira, Al Wahda 6-0 Hatta. Fat tails, same as Qatar.

3. The 2026/27 field

Fourteen clubs. Fourteen head coaches were confirmed by the league ahead of the season.

The three clubs that matter most for a preview

Al Ain. Unbeaten champions, and their summer window has been described as ominous. Signings: Valentino Lazaro (Austria, utility), Georgios Giakoumakis (Greece, centre-forward), Papa Elo (Cameroon), George Scocco (Serbia), Marcos André Maia (Brazil). The framing in the local press is that more success looks "highly plausible, if not inevitable", and that an era of Al Ain dominance may be starting. They are the clear favourites.

United FC. Newly promoted, privately owned, making their top-flight debut, and managed by Andrea Pirlo. Twelve signings in the window. The explicit comparison being drawn is to Al-Kholood in Saudi Arabia, another privately owned outfit that reached the King's Cup final in May. This is the most interesting new entity in Gulf football and worth watching as a template.

Sharjah. Coach Milojević, who had a disappointing spell there last year, now has a much-improved squad. Signed Kodjo Laba, the 2025/26 leading scorer, plus Charles Pickel (Espanyol, DR Congo defensive midfielder) and Diney Borges (Cape Verde centre-back, from relegated Al Bataeh). Both Pickel and Borges impressed at the 2026 World Cup. Sharjah look the most improved side in the division.

4. Style and trends: what to feed the model

League-level priors

Structural features to encode

  1. The 22% draw rate against a 3.2 goals baseline is the defining pair of numbers. High-scoring and decisive. Both point the same way: fewer stalemates, wider margins, more information per match. If you carry a shared draw prior across leagues, the UAE and Serie B sit at opposite ends (22% versus 31%) and a single value will be badly wrong for both.
  2. Home advantage is weak. 43% home wins against 35% away wins is a narrow gap by international standards. Travel distances across the UAE are trivial (the entire country is smaller than most European regions), several clubs share cities, and crowds are modest. Set the UAE home-advantage coefficient below your European default and verify it empirically.
  3. The simplest structure of any league covered. No split, no halving, no playoff, no filial exclusion, no barrage. A standard double round-robin engine works here unmodified. Use it as a control case when debugging your more complex league implementations.
  4. Fat scoreline tails. 10-0, 7-0, 0-6 and 6-0 results appear across recent seasons in a 14-team league. Widen correct-score distributions.
  5. Twenty-six games means late rating stabilisation. Same caution as Qatar, slightly less severe.
  6. Foreign-player composition changes yearly and drives most of the quality variance. Local core plus a small imported group is the standard build. Carried-forward team ratings decay quickly.
  7. Al Ain's unbeaten title season is a rating stress test in the same way Al-Hilal's unbeaten second place is in Saudi Arabia. Check what your rating produces for a 26-game unbeaten champion in a 14-team league.

5. Regional disruption risk

The same caveat applies as in the Saudi and Qatar reports. Reporting on the 2025/26 Gulf season records the Qatar Stars League suspended 1-11 March 2026 and the Kuwaiti Premier League suspended from 28 February to mid-May 2026, both attributed to regional conflict. I found no equivalent suspension recorded for the UAE Pro League. It is flagged only as a fixture-completion variable: postponement risk across the Gulf in 2025/26 was materially higher than in any European league covered, and any model that assumes a fixed, completed calendar should carry a small allowance. Conditions may have changed since the reporting I have; check current status before relying on a Gulf fixture list.
